Last spring, I emailed York County school officials and told them I’d like to spend time in their classrooms.
I said I wanted to tweet, blog, and create videos to give the community an idea of what’s happening in classrooms on a regular basis. I could come for a special event, or I could just come for math class.
Many districts responded, and I was able to visit several classrooms. Time in the 2012-13 school year ran out before I could visit everyone.
I spent a morning in kindergarten in Dallastown.
I learned how the South Eastern School District worked to make middle school seem a little less scary.
I saw Kindles in use at Valley View Elementary School, and I saw “clickers” at work at Orendorf Elementary School.
With a new school year started, I’m anxious to get back into some classrooms. I’m emailing school officials once again, seeking ideas. But I want your ideas, too.
Are there any classrooms you think I should visit? Leave your ideas in the comments or email me at amason@ydr.com.
